Who Is Chris Cross Country

Chris Cross Country is a freelance highly qualified driver and motorcyclist available to provide solutions to your long or short term driver staffing problems.

A vast knowledge of both domestic (UK) and European road networks having organised tours throughout the UK and central europe since 2002 and worked in logistics and delivery since 2007.

Trained to the highest standards as a police Class 1 driver and motorcyclist, the holder of a Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction, car and motorcycle instructor and an examiner for Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) providing the opportunity for Advanced Motorcycle and Car Instruction, refresher or confidence building or even introduction to new vehicles, either on a day by day basis or as a tailored package to suit the individual or group.

Available to tour lead small groups for bespoke motorcycle tours.

Available to drive your coach, mini bus or limousine in a professional capacity with particular attention to customer satisfaction, or tour lead smaller groups in lower capacity vehicles. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service - formally CRB) checked and cleared

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Chris Cross Country is Chris Hood, a retired traffic supervisor from the East Riding of Yorkshire.

I have been a motorcyclist for 34 years and a car driver for one year less!

I qualified at arguably the highest level in both disciplines acheiving and maintaining a Class 1 qualificaion on high performance police cars and high performance motorcycles.

I was Tactical Pursuit Management and Containment trained and emergency blue light qualified.

I was fortunate in the service that my job was my hobby!

As a police motorcyclist I was the force lead on BikeSafe, a national scheme to encourage post test riders to engage in advanced training to empower and improve their skills and pleasure whilst reducing casualties.

I was also a CBT motorcycle instructor for a local authorised training body.

During this time I also completed a Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction and voluntarily qualified as a RoSPA Gold rider and driver.

I currently examine other riders and drivers for RoSPA advanced tests. I am also a member of IAM in both disciplines.

Whilst in service my last few years were spent as Traffic Logistic Supervisor. This role encompassed the research of intelligence and direction of resources to target criminals using the roads. The skills required for this extended to a broad knowledge of the road haulage and other professional road users business. I was qualified for ADR and Digital Tachograph.

After retirement I worked for a local medical logistics company delivering medical supplies, samples and products nationally and locally.

During my time at this company I was requalified as a blue light specialist both driving and riding blue light equipped high performance cars and motorcycles.

The present and future?

I am an active member of a local RoSPA group and continue tutoring and examining.

I am Contracted to both Motorrad Tours - powered by "World of BMW" and "RiDE (Magazine) Tours" as a tour leader.

I am employed ad-hoc as a motorcycle outrider/safety marshall for two nationally recognised bodies ensuring the safety of major on road cycling based events. I am regularly the team leader for one of these organisations.

My knowledge and skills as a motorcyclist continue to take me throughout Europe both leading groups on tour and testing machines for a respected motorcycle journal

I am a qualified Cat D PCV driver fully CPC certificated, DBS cleared and available to drive any category of passenger carrying vehicle - Minibus to Luxury coach!
